Choose your Manager wisely!

We’ve all heard the old saying "People leave managers not companies."

Almost every month we meet really unhappy candidates who hate their jobs having been blinded by a big brand name, cushy benefits, and massive OTEs.

In sales, picking your Sales Leader, or boss, is the most critical career decision you will ever make.

A toxic or micromanaging Head of Sales will drain your motivation, no matter how good the product is.

Whether the company is large or small, you will progress much faster working under a Sales Manager who backs you, coaches you, helps you unpick complex deals and champions you, than you ever would under a hidden Sales Director in a faceless organisation.

When you sit down with a hiring manager, you need to qualify them hard.

Ask how they support a colleague who is going through a dry spell.

Drill into their team's wins and losses.

A brilliant sales leader can turn a tough month into an incredible learning experience.

A poor one, incapable of coaching, will will simply force you do do more 'stuff' and to make more calls, without supporting and helping you to adjust your approach, and trust us, that person will ruin your dream role.

And the worst bit?

They blame you in the boardroom.

There's a few of us in Fleet Recruitment who have been there before and we don't want it happening to you too
