MOT Tester and Vehicle Technician – Newton Aycliffe

Salary: £23,000 plus bonus

​Our client is a long-established, family-owned garage based in Newton Aycliffe. They are an independent, free of the constraints of a franchise and they sell, maintain, repair and MOT a wide range of used cars.

 

It is a genuine family business, and it’s a family with wonderful ethics and the business is hugely well respected in the local community.

 

They are looking for a vehicle technician to carry out Class IV MOT tests and vehicle diagnostics, servicing and repairs at their showroom/workshop in Newton Aycliffe.

The Role

​As an MOT tester you will take responsibility for carrying out Class IV vehicle inspections in accordance with the Vehicle Inspectorate’s laid down procedures and to specific time scales.

 

  • You will identify worn and faulty components in accordance with VOSA standards.

  • You will complete all documentation in relation to conducting Class IV Vehicle

  • Inspections and produce returns as required by the Inspectorate.

 

As a vehicle technician you will be responsible for the service and repair of all kinds of vehicles ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards and all paperwork is completed accurately.


Working in a busy workshop, you will work alongside other experienced technicians and be on hand to assist them with diagnostic problems. You will be comfortable communicating technical information to customers at the appropriate level, ensuring a positive customer experience.

Skills & qualifications required

 

  • ​Hold an active and clean VOSA ID

  • Have knowledge of current MOT standards

  • Be able to work on your own initiative

  • Hold a City & Guilds or NVQ Automotive Servicing and Repair Level 3 certificate (or equivalent)

  • Hold a full UK driving licence

  • Have your own set of tools

    The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, punctual, well-organised team player, with excellent communication skills. You will have good house-keeping skills, both on-vehicle and around the workshop, and take great pride in the work you produce.
