General Sales Manager – Vehicle Leasing
£30,000 salary + Generous bonuses (OTE £60,000) and incredible staff benefits


Our client is the vehicle leasing division of an incredible motor dealer group, based in the Southwest of England.  Aligned to a panel of competitive funders, they market fantastic leasing deals online and combine great pricing with fantastic service. It’s one of the reasons their customers come back again and again.


We have been tasked with helping them find a passionate Sales leader who adores getting the best possible performance from people through coaching, managing disciplines and using emotional intelligence.  We need somebody who inspires people to be the best they can be in a business that has a brilliant great culture, ethical values and who are highly regarded by customers, manufacturers, suppliers, industry peers and funders alike.

The Role

In a nutshell, your role will be to manage the sales team and deliver the company’s unit and revenue objectives. You will drive continuous improvement of the sales team through careful monitoring, coaching and data analysis, and assist with sales strategy and identify new routes to market.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Being accountable for the successful delivery of the team’s targets for both cars and commercial vehicles
  • Communicating in a clear and effective manner with all colleagues and stake holders
  • Coaching the sales team and conducting regular 1-2-1 reviews to measure activities and performance
  • Ensuring disciplines are maintained, including sales process.
  • Setting the daily rhythm of the sales team using regular team briefings and assisting the sales team leader in follow up process
  • Overseeing a call monitoring programme, to ensure the customer journey is excellent and all compliance elements are met
  • Working with the General Manager to help identify opportunities to drive new routes to market including tactical commitment deals
  • Working closely with the marketing manager to identify the areas where cost per lead can be reduced and conversion rate enhanced
  • Working with the company’s Pricing Manager to identify opportunities to commit to volume
  • Prioritising the sale of committed stock
  • Driving a consistent high level of maintenance contract penetration

About You


You will need to be a motor industry professional with proven history managing a team and successfully driving performance. You must be passionate about performance and understand the importance that emotional intelligence plays in getting the best from people.


You will love improving and maintaining sales performance through conducting regular 1-2-1 reviews, always looking for ways to help staff improve, whilst having the ability to deal with facts and remove emotion from tough decision making.


You will be disciplined, organised and honest. Always managing the expectations of colleagues and stakeholders.
